Car rental options in Oeiras?

My wife and I are planning a trip to Lisbon, we've been wanting to visit for ages and finally getting around to it. Had a look at hotel prices in the city centre and they're pretty steep, way more than we were expecting to spend on accommodation. We figured it makes more sense to stay somewhere just outside and settled on Oeiras, seems like a quiet spot that's not too far out. To avoid spending a fortune on taxis every time we want to see Lisbon properly, we're thinking of renting a car. Nothing fancy, but not a total wreck either, and ideally something we can pick up right there in Oeiras. Are there any decent options for finding something local?

Staying outside the main tourist zone usually saves you a fair bit and Oeiras is close enough that you won't waste half your day commuting. Having your own wheels means you set the pace, stop where you want, explore bits of the coast between Oeiras and Lisbon that you'd miss otherwise. Just check what the parking situation is like near the main attractions, some areas charge quite a bit or have restricted zones.

Parking fees in the centre can add up fast and some streets have confusing rules about where you're allowed to leave the car. Picking up locally saves you from having to travel somewhere else just to get your vehicle sorted. Private owners often rent out their cars when they're not using them, you can check what's available to rent car in Oeiras here https://getrentacar.com/en-US/portugal/oeiras . People list different types depending on what they've got sitting idle, anything from small city cars to larger family models. You sort out pickup with the owner near where you're staying and hand it back when you're done. Means you can head into Lisbon whenever you feel like it without relying on taxis that charge a fortune for every trip.
